Fur de Lis Pet Care provides professional in-home pet sitting in select areas of Covington, Mandeville, Madisonville, Abita Springs, and Lacombe, Louisiana.

These two terms are often used interchangeably, but they are entirely different services.

Pet sitting takes place in your home. Your pets stay in their own familiar environment, surrounded by their own space and bedding, while we come to them. There is nothing to pack, no facility to drive to, and no adjustment to a new place. Your pets remain exactly where they are most comfortable.

Boarding is the opposite. It requires removing your pet from home and placing them in a facility, which can range from a basic kennel to an upscale daycare setting. Because your pet is taken out of their familiar surroundings and into an unfamiliar environment with other animals, boarding is significantly more stressful for them.

Boarding is not a form of pet sitting. They are two distinct services, and Fur de Lis Pet Care does not offer boarding. We provide professional in-home pet sitting, which means your pets never have to leave the place they know best.

Hiring a professional pet sitter provides a higher level of security, reliability, and specialized care than the large, app- and website-based pet sitting platforms that rely on a high volume of independent sitters. Professional sitters are insured, bonded, and trained, offering consistent, high-quality care you can depend on every visit. In contrast, these platforms feature hobbyist caretakers with varying levels of experience and frequent turnover, which can lead to inconsistent care. Choosing a professional means your pet is in experienced, qualified hands—it is by far the safest and most reliable option for both your pet and your home.

Yes - we carry complete business liability insurance to protect you, your home and our team. We also carry employee theft coverage in the unlikely event that items go missing from your home.

We are based primarily in Mandeville, Louisiana, but we will travel to select areas Covington, Madisonville, Lacombe, Abita Springs. For a better idea of our service area, check out our service area map. We come to you so your pets are comfortable right at home!

We stay overnight in your home for 10 hours to keep your pets company, giving them time to play, unwind, and rest in whatever way makes them feel most at ease. For dogs, we require adding at least one mid-day drop-in visit to make sure they get enough potty breaks while you’re away.

Yes! We administer pills and liquid medications free of charge. For more complex medications like insulin, please book under our special care services.

Yes. Post-surgical recovery is precisely the kind of specialized care Fur de Lis Pet Care was built to provide. Our extensive veterinary training sets us apart in delivering skilled post-surgical support, including medication administration, monitoring, and helping limit your pet's activity to protect their healing.

At this time, we do not offer dog walking services. To keep pets as safe as possible, we currently focus on care within secure, fenced-in yards, along with brief, supervised leash potty breaks for dogs without a fully fenced in yard. We may be expanding Fur de Lis Pet Care services in the future to include professional dog walking. While this service is not currently available, we are gathering interest from pet parents who would like to be notified if walks become available.

Fur de Lis Pet Care accepts credit and debit card payments through the client portal. No cash or check payments will be accepted.

A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation. Once services are confirmed, the deposit will be charged to the payment method on file and a confirmation will be provided.

The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to the start of services and will be charged to the card on file.

If your pet isn’t feeling well while you’re away, we’ll reach out to you first. If we can’t get in touch, we’ll contact your emergency contact—so be sure it’s someone who can make decisions for you. In urgent situations where every second counts, we may take action right away and update you as soon as possible.

One working key, secure lockbox, or entry code must be provided at the meet-and-greet. Clients in gated communities must provide gate cards, remotes, or access codes.

We take the possession of your key seriously. We number each key (no names, no addresses, no identifiers) and lock them in our office. We generally prefer to retain keys for future visits. If you request that your key(s) be returned at the end of service, a fee will apply for any future key pick-up or drop-off arrangements.

Please test all keys in advance to ensure they work properly.

Fur de Lis Pet Care will help you determine the best care plan for you and your pet(s) during your initial Meet & Greet and key pick-up.

For dogs without access to a doggy-door, we require at least three (3) visits per 24-hour period that owners are out of town. Dogs with reliable doggy door access need at least two (2) daily visits. If repeated accidents are found, we may increase the number of visits to ensure your pet’s comfort.

For cats and small animals, we require a minimum of one (1) visit per 24 hour period that owners are away.

Our care is built around trips and time away, so we schedule by booking period rather than a standing weekly or daily routine. If you have travel or time away coming up, we'd love to help and can talk through the right visit schedule for your pets while you're away!

Our services are designed for times when you are away from home. To uphold the safety standards and professional care our insurance and policies require, our visits take place when the home is unoccupied. This allows us to give your pets our full attention and follow their care plan exactly without distraction or interruption.

Absolutely! We send a short message and a cute photo after each visit so you know how it went.

Fur de Lis Pet Care provides pet sitting services for dogs, cats, and other small animals. From rabbits and guinea pigs to reptiles, birds, and fish, we welcome a variety of species. Don’t see your pet listed? Just contact us, and we’ll let you know if we can help!

Fur de Lis Pet Care does not provide services for:

• Dangerous or venomous animals

• Animals with a known history of aggression or biting, regardless of species

• Outdoor poultry

• Horses, livestock, or farm animals, including but not limited to chickens, ducks, pigs, goats, or cattle
